About Glenroy Bakery

Starting out as a one-man operation, after almost 6 decades of operations, we are now one of the largest independent bread distributors in the Melbourne metro area.

Founded by Antonio and Caterina Cristiano in 1962, we’re a family-owned business built from humble origins. Starting life as a one-man band, Antonio kick started the business by purchasing loaves of bread from a local bakery and making deliveries direct to homes in the Glenroy area. In 1960, Antonio purchased land in Glenroy and began building our wholesale bakery. Once completed in 1962, the first staff were employed, and Antonio’s dream had become a reality. In 1988, after outgrowing our original premises, we moved to a new and larger purpose-built building in Blenheim St, Glenroy.

In 2000, Antonio left management of Glenroy Bakery to the next generation and at the age of 70 went on to open a new business, Cottage Cheese Farm.

Over the past 6 decades, we’ve diversified the variety of our wholesale baked goods, and are proud to have become one of the premier independent wholesale suppliers of bread, cakes and hot food in Melbourne.  Glenroy Bakery specialises in wholesale orders and has successfully won many significant tenders over the past 30 years. We're proud to state that we're the preferred wholesale pastry suppliers and bread distributors for Spotless Catering, Sodexo, Compass, Catercare, and ALH, amongst others.

We currently employ over 70 staff and produce over 200 unique products.

In 2020, Glenroy Bakery was nominated by the Moreland City Council for the Northern Business Achievement Award and received the Outstanding Initiative in Manufacturing award.
