Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Fundraiser
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an incurable disease which affects neurones. While uncommon, public knowledge of the disease has grown following a number of celebrities being diagnosed with the disease and helping to raise awareness of the disease.
As explained on the MND Victoria website, Motor neurone disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells - neurones - controlling the muscles that enable us to move around, speak, breathe and swallow, fail to work normally. With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually weaken and waste. The patterns of weakness vary from person to person.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an umbrella term used for a group of diseases that affect the functioning of motor neurones.
MND Victoria provide invaluable care, equipment and support to people with MND and their families, and also fund research.
Every year, MND/ALS Global Awareness Day is held on 21st June. On this day, MND/ALS Associations across the world use the day to raise general public’s awareness of the disease.
In 2019, Glenroy Bakery proudly ran our first fundraiser for MND Victoria. An edible image with MND Victoria logo was used to decorate our delicious Mini Chocolate Muffins. The MND Mini Muffins were available for delivery to our customers and 50% of proceeds from the sale of the MND Mini Muffins was donated to MND Victoria. We are sure this won’t be the last time that we run an MND fundraiser.
