Celebrate International Picnic Day. The best food & parks in Melbourne.

There’s something very special about a picnic. It’s a charming, fun, relaxing and affordable way to spend an afternoon with your friends and family. Pack a basket full of delicious food and sprawl out on a big picnic blanket, in your favourite park.

With picnics, there are no ‘rules.’ You can be as low-key or lah-dee-dah as you want. From simple sandwiches to an elegant charcuterie board, you define the perfect picnic.

With International Picnic Day coming up on June 18, it’s the perfect excuse to plan a weekend day out, before the winter weather sets in.

Easy picnic food ideas

Worried a picnic sounds like a lot of work? It’s not. Every morning, we bake thousands of savoury and sweet goods, ideal for a picnic. These items travel well, are perfect for sharing, and can be enjoyed as leftovers.

There are breads, brioche buns and rolls, focaccia, and hot food – mini pies, pasties, sausage rolls, pizzas, quiches, and spinach and cheese logs. But these aren’t ordinary pastries. Glenroy Bakery took home silver and bronze at the Great Aussie Sausage Roll and Pie competitions for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021).

For dessert, we have cakes and slices, cookies, donuts, muffins, and sweet finger food – mini croissants, scones, custard tarts, and danishes. Our baked goods picnic food is perfect fare for family and friend get-togethers.

Order your pies, donuts, muffins, cakes, potato buns and more, at a wholesale price. We’re also a wholesale bread supplier to many Melbourne businesses.

Pair your savoury and sweet spread with a container of fruit, cheese, some deli meats, crackers and dip, and potato chips to graze on throughout the day. Don’t forget to pack napkins, cutlery, plates, salt and pepper, and drinks.
